LESSON 212

I am not a body. I am free. For I remain as God created me.

1. W-192 «I have a function God would have me fulfill».

²I seek the function that will set me free from all the vain illusions of the world.

³Only the function God has given me can bring me freedom.

⁴This alone I seek, and only this will I accept as mine.I

⁴I am not a body.

⁵I am free.

⁶For I remain as God created me.

I The function God has given you is neither a mystical task nor an unattainable goal. It is, quite simply, to be happy. It has nothing to do with accomplishing great things in the world or meeting anyone else’s standards. It has to do with doing whatever you do—with joy, with presence, and with a spirit of devotion.

You can live that function while cleaning the floor, caring for your family, or writing a book. The form matters far less than the attitude with which you give yourself to it. What sabotages this joy is not your work or your situation, but the idea that you should be somewhere else, be someone else, or have something different.

Your happiness does not depend on the outer setting, but on how you choose to live it. And if today you cannot yet feel that fullness, it doesn’t matter—do not give up trying. For you are free. And that power—the power to choose from what place you live what you live—no one can take from you.

The function God has given me fills me with enthusiasm.

I am truly blessed and deeply happy.

Life is perfect.
