I see only the gentleness of Creation.
1. Indeed, I have misunderstood the world because I first projected my “sins” upon it, and then saw them looking back at me.I
²How fierce they seemed!
³And how deceived I was to think that what I feared was in the world, instead of only in my own mind.
⁴Today I behold the world in the heavenly gentleness with which Creation shines.
⁵There is no fear in it now.
⁶Let none of my seeming “sins” obscure the Light of Heaven that shines upon the world.
⁷What is reflected here is held within the Mind of God.
⁸The images I see mirror my thoughts.
⁹But my mind is One with the Mind of God.
¹⁰And so I can perceive the gentleness of Creation.
2. I would behold the world in stillness,
reflecting only Your Thoughts,
and mine as well.
²Let me always remember they are the same,
and I will see the gentleness of Creation.
I My “sins” are the stories I tell myself about the world and about me. They are tales tinted by the guilt that haunts me and that make me believe in a dark and limited character. These stories are irrelevant in themselves, for they describe nothing real—only the projections of a confused mind that interprets everything through the lens of fear. Yet because I have believed them, they affect me completely, and thus I experience pain and condemnation.
Sins are nothing but errors—the error of thinking that my stories are true. When I cease to give them credit and withdraw from my judgments, the world appears to me in an entirely different light: pure, innocent, and kind. Then I discover that what I called “sin” never existed, and that behind my shadowed fables there was only a reflection of the tenderness of God.
The miracle lies in not interfering. The only thing asked of me is not to add anything, not to insist on my interpretations, not to attempt to improve or correct what is already perfect. When I stop offering my “contributions,” the world reveals itself as it truly is: a transparent stage in which I can recognize the Love that sustains all things.
How could I not love such a vision? It is the remembrance that I am innocent, that my brother is innocent, and that together we remain the beloved Son of God.
Father, teach me today to stop inventing stories and to behold only the innocence You created.
