LESSON 234

Father, today I am once again Your Son.

1. Today let us look ahead to the moment when dreams of sin and guilt fade away and we return once more to the holy place we never left.

²Between eternity and timelessness there passed but a brief instant.

³And that interval was so brief that there was no break nor any lapse in the thoughts that are forever joined as one.

⁴Nothing has ever occurred to disturb the Peace of God the Father and His Son.

⁵Today we accept this absolute truth.I

2. Father,

we thank You that we cannot lose the memory of You and of Your Love.

²We recognize that we are safe.

³And we give thanks for all the gifts You have bestowed upon us,

for all the loving help we have received,

for Your eternal patience,

and for the Word You have given us that we are safe.

I In truth, you have no need of salvation, for you have never been in danger. Your reality has always been the same and always will be, for you exist outside of time, in the eternal timelessness of pure Existence: which is God, which are you as His Son, and which are also your Creations.

You do, however, have a great need to save yourself from your own false beliefs—from that immense misunderstanding that leads you to perceive yourself as separate and vulnerable. Ultimately, you are both the problem and the solution. It is enough to stop harming yourself by thinking things that are not true about who you are.

In this lesson, Jesus invites us to anticipate the moment when the dreams of sin and guilt disappear. He is not telling us that we have already achieved it, but rather to project ourselves mentally into that instant and speak as if we had already awakened. It is an exercise in faith: to envision the end of the dream and allow that vision to begin shaping our present experience.

Perhaps today you cannot yet say with complete sincerity, “Thank You, Father, for I already remember You,” but you can practice the willingness to reach that point. And that willingness is the key. To recognize that right now you still do not fully feel that union, yet you long for it and anticipate it, is an act of honesty and, at the same time, a commitment to the truth.

Accepting that you hold the key to your own happiness may seem difficult if you believe the power lies outside yourself. Curiously, it is easier for you to recognize that you are perfectly capable of making your life miserable if you so decide. If that is true, how could the opposite not be true as well? You can choose to stop harming yourself, and with that choice the return begins.

Today, as you “anticipate” the moment of your return, feel it as a certainty drawing near. Though it may still appear to be in the future, it is in fact an instant already available, awaiting only your full acceptance.

Father, today I am once again Your Son.

When I am at peace, I recognize that I have never been separated from You.
