I To invoke the Name of God is not a devotional gesture directed toward a distant or unknown entity. It is an act of inner recognition—a return to uttering, even in silence, the truth of what we are. If the word “God” sounds distant, abstract, or even uncomfortable to you, it does not matter. It is enough to call upon what is most true within you: that part of your mind that does not judge, does not fear, and has no need to defend itself. That is your Self. And your Self is not separate from God.
Confusion about God usually arises when we imagine Him as something apart. But God is not a concept; He is the Source of what you are. So if you cannot yet love God—because the concept still blocks you—begin by making peace with yourself. Learn to look within without fear. Learn to say to yourself, “This is what I am, as God created me.”
To invoke the Name of God is, in truth, to invoke your own true name—not the one you inherited from the world, but the one that remains untouched in the Mind that gave you being. In that invocation, the human and the divine, the personal and the eternal, are made one. There is no separation. And the way to God begins where it has always been: in you.
The Name of God is holy.
