I I do not understand what death means.
Death does not exist. Not as an idea, not as a metaphor, not as a hope. It simply is not real. And that statement, if accepted, dismantles everything. For if death is not real, fear loses its justification, guilt its purpose, and time its meaning. The ego, having built its kingdom upon that premise, is left without ground.
It is not a matter of denying the perception of death, but of questioning its foundation. Jesus does not say that it does not hurt, nor that we do not see it; he says that it does not exist. That it is a thought that does not come from God, and therefore, lacks reality. The Son of God does not die. He cannot die. What dies is not he, but the idol he believed himself to be.
The second idea is the inevitable consequence of the first: if there is no death, then the separation did not occur. And if the separation did not occur, we remain One with Him who is our Source. Not as a poetic remembrance, but as a present state. Now. There is no waiting, no process, no distance.
But this recognition will not come as long as we continue to make pacts with the idea of death, even in its softer forms: sacrifice, loss, aging, guilt. Every form of death is a defense against truth. That is why this lesson does not console—it undoes. It does not soothe fear—it leaves it without argument.
There is only one real freedom: the knowing that one is subject neither to time nor to the body. And that freedom is not earned. It is accepted.
