LESSON 270

I will not use the body’s eyes today.

1. Father, You have given me the gift of Christ’s vision,I

that way of seeing which has the power to transform all that the body’s eyes behold into the sight of a forgiven world.

²How glorious and merciful is this world!

³And how much more I can behold in it than what the body’s eyes can show.

⁴A forgiven world means that Your Son acknowledges his Father,

lets his dreams be brought to truth,

and waits in quiet for the final instant still remaining to time,

which ends forever as the memory of You returns to him.

⁵And now his will is one with Yours.

⁶Now his only function is Your Own,

and every thought except Your Own has disappeared.

2. The stillness of today will bless our hearts, and through them, peace will come to all the world.

²Today we see with the eyes of Christ.

³And by His vision we bring healing to the world through Him, the holy Son whom God created whole.

⁴The holy Son whom God created one.

I I do not see—I judge.

To see and to judge are very different things. Vision precedes judgment and is the only thing that is genuine; my judgments have always been my deceptive contribution.

A strange judge has come between my holy mind and Reality. He is a sly impostor—unseen and treacherous. He always tries to convince me that he is me, and the worst part is that he almost always succeeds. His “explanations” slip into my mind disguised as my own thoughts, but in truth they are his. And the fact is, his interpretations never bring me peace, only displeasure and condemnation.

Today I will not let myself be carried away by that voice that pretends to tell me what the things my eyes see mean. Yes, I will use the eyes of the body—of course, I do not wish to have an accident—but I will refuse to believe the stories that this corrupt judge invents about what I see. I will not turn to the past to interpret the present, nor allow my mind to lose itself in fantasies of the future. I want to live the present without judgments; I want to see the world differently.

The eyes of the body see only effects—bodies, forms, shadows. But the Vision of Christ sees causes, and reminds me that the only thing real is the Light of God behind those forms. When I listen to Christ, the world ceases to be a threat and becomes an innocent, forgiven world—a gentler dream that leads me closer to awakening.

I do not need to understand anything with my judgment, but only to desire to see with the Vision of Christ. That desire alone is enough for the Holy Spirit to offer me another way of seeing. And when I succeed, I no longer see bodies or enemies, but brothers. I see no sins or faults, but innocence. I see no fear, but a world that reflects the peace of God.

My mind is thirsty for stories, but today I want the only true story: that we are the Christ, the one Son of God, in perfect union with our Father.

Father, I no longer wish to deceive myself with empty judgments.

Grant me today the Vision of Christ, that I may see with Your eyes and rest in Your Peace.
