I govern my mind, which I alone must rule.
1. I have a kingdom I must rule.
²Yet at times it does not seem as if I am its king at all.
³It seems to govern me, and tell me what I must think, and do, and feel.I
⁴But my mind has been given me to serve whatever purpose I choose.
⁵Its only function is to serve.
⁶Today I place it in the service of the Holy Spirit, to be used as He sees fit.
⁷Thus do I direct my mind, which I alone can rule.
⁸And thus I set it free to do the Will of God.
2. Father,
today my mind is open to Your Thoughts,
and closed to every thought that does not come from You.
²I govern my mind and offer it to You.
³Accept my gift,
for it is Yours to me.
I To think that you are powerless is perhaps the strangest thought you could ever conceive. Powerlessness is impossible, yet it is conceivable—such is the power of your mind. And as on other occasions, you should ask yourself why and for what purpose you tell yourself this. If you assign yourself powerlessness and bondage, it must be because you believe you do not deserve freedom—perhaps because you suspect that you have misused your power and fear what you might do with it. Child of God! Fear will not save you; your faith and your trust will.
Your will is eternally free and capable of conceiving and creating whatever you choose. And here lies the key: your mind is like a projector that casts the film of your life. The story you see on the screen does not write itself; it has a script, and there are always two scriptwriters available. One is the ego, the other is the Holy Spirit. You, as the “decision-maker,” are the spectator sitting in the theater, and you hold the power to choose who will write the script projected before you.
If you do not make this decision consciously, the default scriptwriter will be the ego, and then the film you see will be filled with conflict, fear, and loss. It will seem to you that you do not rule your mind, that the “kingdom” rules you, dictating what you must think, feel, and do. But the fact remains that the choice is still yours.
To rule your mind means to accept this authority and offer it to the Holy Spirit so that He may use it according to the Will of God. Thus you free it from all small purposes and align it with the only true purpose: to extend the Love that you are. And in this, even in doubt or darkness, you cannot fail.
Remember: only you rule your mind, and only you decide the script projected in your experience. Choose your scriptwriter well, and the world you behold will be very different.
