LESSON 276

I have been given God’s Word to share.

1. What is the Word of God?

²“My Son is as holy and pure as I Myself.”

³And thus did God become the Father of the Son He loves, for thus did He create him.I

⁴This is the Word His Son did not create with the Father, for he was born with It.

⁵Let us accept His Fatherhood, and all shall be given us.

⁶But if we deny that we were created in His Love, we deny our very Self, and we cease to know who we are, who our Father is, and why we have come.

⁷Yet only by recognizing Him Who gave us His Word in our creation do we remember our Father again, and so remember our own Self.

2. Father,

²I have made Your Word my own.

³And that is what I wish to share with all my brothers,

who were entrusted to me to be loved as myself,

just as You love me, bless me, and save me.

I The fragmented mind—the personal mind—believes that it knows, but believing and knowing are two entirely different things that cannot be confused. To believe is to construct a story, take it as true, and live as if it were. To know, on the other hand, is to experience truth directly, without interpretation.

You may believe in God, in love, or in what this Course teaches, but as long as you merely believe, it will remain a story you tell yourself. And yet, every belief reveals your will: you believe what you want to believe. The personal mind cannot stop believing, for its very existence depends on that dynamic of inventing and sustaining fictions.

This Course does not attack your beliefs; it redirects them. It invites you to move from the shifting ground of belief to the solid ground of knowledge. Its purpose is a mental training so that one day you may cease to believe and simply know. Truth is not a belief—it is a fact. And knowing it will free you from all fantasies.

That is why today you are reminded that you and your brothers are as holy as God Himself. You do not yet know that truth, but you can begin by believing it. And though it remains a belief, it is a belief aligned with what is real—one that can greatly shorten the time it takes for you to abandon all belief and enter into knowledge.

The lesson states: I have been given God’s Word to share. And what is that Word? The very same that resounds throughout all the teachings of Jesus: “You are as God created you.” That is the gospel in a single phrase, the good news that dissolves all fear and all guilt.

To accept the Word of God is to recognize your true identity and that of all your brothers. To deny it is to lose yourself in the ego’s confusion, which fabricates a thousand stories to distract you from your real being. But each time you remember that you were created holy, just like God Himself, confusion fades and peace returns.

ThisCourse paves the way with transitional beliefs which, though not the ultimate truth, point toward it. And the most powerful of them all is this: I am as God created me. Hold fast to it. Believe it now—until knowledge shines forth and you no longer need to believe.

Father, I have received Your Word, and today I want to share it.

May I remember, in everything I see, that I am as You created me, and that all my brothers share with me Your same holiness.

Amen.
